This conference was a joint event of the USBIG Network, and BI/RG Canada. It was held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Eastern Economic Association (EEA).
Featured speakers included Stanley Aronowitz, of the City University of New York, and Charles Murray, of the American Enterprise Institute. Stanley Aronowitz is the author of several books, including The Jobless Future. Charles Murray is also the author of several books, including In Our Hands: A Plan to Replace the Welfare State. The two addressed each other in a session entitled “Left and Right on Basic Income.”
The North American Basic Income Guarantee (NABIG) Congress was originally “the U.S. Basic Income Guarantee Network Congress,” and was organized by the U.S. Basic Income Guarantee (USBIG) Network. It expanded in 2010 to become a joint event of the USBIG Network and the Basic Income/Revenu Garanti Canada (BI/RG Canada). Since then, it has been a North American Conference held on alternate years in the United States and Canada.
Scholars, activists, and others are invited to propose papers, and organize panel discussions on BIG or topics related to poverty and the distribution of property. All points of view and proposals from any discipline are welcome.
